Mother’s Day is upon us again, and if you haven’t bought mom a gift yet (shame on you!) here are a few last minute frugal ideas to celebrate Mother’s Day with mom that she’ll love and will show just how much you appreciate her!
1.) Breakfast in bed. A tried and true recipe to steal Mom’s heart. Creep up early and make her breakfast in bed. Pancakes are awesome for making hearts and with a steady hand (and a large flat griddle) you can spell out your feelings in gooey warm nummies. Pancakes may not be your thing (or mom’s) check out our Breakfast Inspiration Pinboard on pinterest. Make sure you clean up your mess when you’re done mom doesn’t want a trashed kitchen for Mother’s Day!
2.) Handprint art. Need I say more? Mom’s melt for this kind of stuff, no it’s not the new iPhone, iPad, 60 minute massage she’s been dreaming of, but it does preserve a memory, and you can’t put a price tag on that sort of thing. Here’s our Hand Print Inspiration Board plenty of different types of ideas for decorating those hand prints and making them special and a long term keepsake. Here’s a recipe for a plaster that can be made with things found in your kitchen. This is my personal favorite a set of family hand prints nested and framed:
3.) Massage. Though skilled trained hands provide a massage experience that you may not be able to compare with mom will enjoy a good back rub, or foot rub from you just the same. Tips for a good back rub and Tips for a good foot rub. Add a few dollars and pick up some lotion or essential oils, maybe a variety of things from the dollar store.
You can also check your local daily deals site, or school of massage therapy you might catch a deal on a professional massage for mom.
4.) Love Note Flip Book. Sometimes mom needs a pick me up and a flip note book of inspirations and love notes personalized by dad and the kids is a great gift for any sentimental mom. You can find the directions for this craft here are the Disney Family Fun Blog.
5.) Coupons, and no not the kind that frugal blogs are usually talking about. Mom can get her own stockpile of mustard coupons if she wants them. These are more heartfelt and more suitable for a gift. Make mom a coupon booklet of coupons for chores, foot rubs, movie night, quiet time, tv remote control, night off from cooking, gardening, mowing the lawn, taking out the trash, anything you know mom wants but doesn’t get regularly. Mom will appreciate the thought put into this gift! Ambrosia Girl made some cute printables for this idea and you can find them here: Mom Coupons but construction paper, crayons, and markers will work just fine for this project too.
